Forgive my ignorance, what is the differance?

I'm sorry but I have been restoring my own tractors for the last few years and only buy those that I like. I was wondering what is the differance between an H and an HV? I have seen a few HV's mentioned and have no idea what they are other than an off shoot of the all mighty H. So once again forgive my ignorance on this subject. Thank you all in advance for the knowledge you will share. Matt
