Hey IH guys. Was looking at a 1987 IH S1700 grain truck today and it had a V8 diesel engine. According to the specs I found on a web site there were only two V8 diesels offered in the 1987 trucks and they were a 420 CID (IDI420) and a 440 CID (IDI444). The specs stated 170 HP for the 420 and didn't give a HP rating for the 444. My first question is wouldn't 170 HP be a little light for a grain truck with 350-380 bushel capacity? Second question is; what is the HP rating of the IDI444? Wouldn't the DT466 at 210 HP have been more appropriate for this truck? Thanks for any info you may be able to provide.
