Hi, Check fuel filters, air cleaner and injector lines for leaks. Also add some Diesel injector cleaner as it could be a sticking injector. Some people recommend GM ATF as a Diesel fuel additive to prevent sticking injectors. Other problems could be valve adjustment, leaking head gasket. Usually if pump is bad it will be hard to start.
