The steel pan seat with the molded foam rubber top disappeared late 1939 or early 1940 and was replaced by 3/4 inch of felt with a waterproof??? canvas cover. My grandfathers first Farmall M (early 1940 in New Zealand but photographs of the decals etc. indicate a 1939 tractor) had the early seat and the 1945 Farmall M that replaced it had the black canvas covered seat.
