966 horsepower

Hey. We have an International 966 but it is very unusual considering it has a 1266 motor in it and a 1466 feul-injector. At one point we had the horse power turned up to 160-175 and the back end was taking it perfectly fine. Well then are mechanic didnt think that are backend could take that much power so he turned it down to 125hp. The problem is that it just isnt pulling the way it should be. My question is should we turn the power back up or is it a problem in the feul filters? any info would be great. thanks,
