I just converted my M to 12 volt.
I had the Alt shop build a Delco 10SI and put the smallest pulley they had on it. He told me he set the alt up to make power at 600 RPM or above. it makes 14.7 volts at idle
1 custom mount
1 slightly longer alt belt
1 12V coil with built in resistor
and a simple switch to give power to the coil
my wire harness on the tractor is only two wires
1 from alt to battery +
1 from battery + to switch then to coil.
You can also buy a new 10si from napa for about 60 bucks
