My 1950 Custom has a top speed of around 55mph without a govenor. It will get up to around 45mph in 200 feet drag race track. Most tractors will vary from 8mph to 30mph. I have read were a man took a simpson tractor and used it in tractor oval track racing and that thing would run 80mph, this info came from the fine magazine Antique Power.

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
