Okay, took it apart and all I have found so far is that one of the spider gears has slop in it, like it could use a couple of shims. And man they sure made it hard to remove the spider gear pin. Both axles have to be pulled, then the inside bearings, and finally the carrier can be removed. To make it even harder, you have to drill the opening of the set pin before it can then be driven out. Could this loose spider gear cause then whining?? Or do I need to keep looking? The bearings and gear appear fine and with no rust.
