Well a picture would be very helpful but there are a couple possibilities.
1. I believe an H has 2 pipe fittings sticking out the left side of the trans, it is in line with the belly pump. Maybe they were using the shut off valve as a pipe plug.
2. I believe there is a transmission drain plug under the battery box on the left side, this plug is directly into the transmission housing.
I'm not an H guy but I do have an M, they are very similar and I believe the above is identical. A picture posted will solve your problem. ~Anthony
