I recently purchased a 1963 Farmall 404 and have a few issues I am working on. My main issue is I removed the hydraulic filter canister to discover all the internal parts are missing, no filters, mesh screen, valve, seals, and springs. I would like to find a source for purchasing these parts but I have only been able to get the paper element filter. I read where someone had the same issue and he came up with a spacer (radiator hose) that was installed to keep the filter in place. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated, especially a source for purchasing or even fabricating these pieces. Another interesting thing was I drained the hydraulic fluid from the three drain sources and came up with approximately 14 gallons of fluid. And yes, I have a 3 point and power steering. Any comments on the 14 gallons verse the 7 the manual quotes? Thanks!!
