Dan - If memory serves me, AC C87 plug is equivalent to the Champion D-21. I've had good luck with both brands - I simply buy whichever is cheaper at the time. I believe Champion also catalogs a D-23 which would be hotter than the D-21. But I've never found them in stock anywhere. Regarding the carb, there's a drain port in the bottom of the air inlet ahead the choke plate. It drains the low point of the air inlet should the carb flood. It should have a felt "button" about the size of a pencil eraser in it. If the drain is blocked with a brass plug, etc. it will make the tractor hard to start if it's been overchoked. I'll look in my parts book tonite for details on the internal air bleeds and their sizes. It's been a while since I had one of these carbs apart...
