You unhook the rod to the carb and the rod to the operator's speed selector lever, undo the 8 or so bolts holding it on and pull straight forward. On the B it can be removed without removing the fan or radiator, not sure on the C. While you have it off, check it out thoroughly, I found a bent shaft in mine, fifty bucks, but it also had an accumulation of rust, ended up replacing some bearings and springs. Parts should be available at your Case/IH dealer.
