Before I swapped the carb out, I had it cranking by hand fairly easy. I had to pull it to get it started this time, and it sounds pretty good to me. The mag is good and hot, and the timing marks are spot on. What can I do to make it easy to crank again???
Put the working carb back on. you never said if you rebuilt the brass one or just cleaned it. Something is obviously not right with it or it would not change how the tractor starts. 12's can be very sensitive starters if something is off just a tweak. Also I don't see a new gasket between the carb and manifold, may be a air leak if you reused the old gasket, Should be a fairly thick one in there.
