I have good luck using "Northern" brand gas tank sealer. The trick is to get the float completely dried out before you dip it. After you dip it let it dry for a couple of days before you use the float. When you are done with the tractor drain all the gas out of the bowl so the float isn't soaking in gas. We have a couple Hart Parr floats that we sealed 4 years ago and are still working great.
