It's not something you can tell by looking. You kinda have to know on a tractor-by-tractor basis.
Before the mid 1960's there weren't a lot of closed center hydraulic systems out there. I almost think the Deere 10 or 20 series may have been the first ones to use closed center on a large scale basis.
IH's first widespread use of the closed center hydraulics didn't come until the early 1980's on the last of the 86 series and the 2+2's.
