I'm converting an H to 12V neg ground. I am familiar with Bob M's wiring diagrams and they have helped, but a few little things have come up. I am using a Delco single wire alternator (I hope that is okay; a 3-wire was more expensive and I didn't see how it would change things for the worse). I have a few questions: 1) what size belt will work best for driving this setup? I can fit the hood on nicely if the alternator is pulled in snug to its bracket, so I don't want to have to pull it out much. The stock belt is too long, but question 2 complicates this. 2) should I make the alternator adjustable or mount it solid and have an idler to tighten the belt? 3) will the stock ammeter be okay or should I put in a voltage meter? 4) I put in a 12V coil that says "w/out series resistance" on the box. Does this mean its for a circuit without a resistor or does the coil itself lack a resistor?
