The lever in the illustration is worn, but has the correct demensions on it. The shift lever moves into and out of gears (as you know) forward and back. The tip of the lever that fits into the shift rails moves rearward when the lever moves forward. The tip is flat on the left and right, and longer front to back. If the tip was a nickle the head would be to the right and tails to the left when sitting on the tractor seat. This pushes and pulls in the shift rails. The tip is made a little too big by welding then grinding it to fit in the slot (neutral for left and right) and able to move only one rail at a time forward and back. Jim
