You have several good leads on trying to find the source of your starting problem but you will need to do some trouble shooting to find the real issue. This most likely won't be your problem, but when I bought my Super C the hot wire from the push-pull switch to the coil was broken under the battery box. Didn't take any time at all to fix that issue and I bought the tractor as a non-runner from a very frustrated person. The prior owner (not a real tractor type) had everything dismantled trying to find a major problem while overlooking a very basic thing.
