Most Farmalls have that problem after years of service. I had that problem with an M transmission. It can be a combination of problems. The parts that wear are the shifter forks and slides, detent balls and springs, and the holes in the casting of the transmission. The holes in the casting of the transmission were worn on mine. I ended up getting a different transmission cover from the salvage yard. Balls, springs, and some of the slide parts are available from CaseIH. You can probably find some good used parts at a salvage yard. Roger
