Based on your comment it is very possible I am tightening it way too much; I doubt I could have moved it an inch with just my thumb. This could very well be what killed the one that was on there before too. I'll loosen it up and see what happens. Just eye-balling the belt on the pulleys it appeared to be properly in line.
