Don't know about the specific model, but multi-fuel engines are common. Start on gasoline until the heat is up and then switch to distillate(kerosene or diesel). THE WD-40 was such a beast that was a progenitor to the 400 D. The cable is obviously an auxiliary transmission. What happens when the cable is pulled?
