With respect, and to add to the total input to the thread: The bearing under the cap should be held so it will not move in or out. The cap is used to hold this in place. The bearing is a deep groove style ball bearing. It is inder pretty serious stress. (never replace it with cheap replacement). Turning the wheel left and right through its dead travel while watching the shaft where it disapears into the box should show no in out travel. Quite often the sector gear is also worn (nothing but a new gear or plasma spray rebuild and grinding will fix that. The lower bolster bushing, and thrust bearing and the upper bolster bushing under the gear need to be tight. .010" is about all that will still keep it from wobble. The universal joint at the hood bulge is also important for inspection. They are reparable. Jim
