I'm with Andrew on this - I've had my share of won't start tractors (from lack of starting and use) and have found what appears to be good batteries are usually just enough on the low side (usually around 6.1 or 12.1 volts or so) and the tractor won't start. Hit is with a charger for a short time and get that voltage up a little and then they usually fire right off. Give that a good try before tearing into stuff that is most likely just fine.
