That engine is basically the same as the gasser , The biggest down fall on the C301 is the fact that it has no sleeves and was a true gas hog. As on the gassers they had a bigger carb also other changes were in the advance curve in the dist. They were still the four main bearing engine as to why they had that ingot valve cover i have no idea unless it was for added weight of the tractor . As far as pistons here i do not know as i do not have any old parts books to see if the pistons were any different . LP was suppose to have higher octane but power wise there is not much difference LP burns cleaner . Myself i have not had much experience with it . It was not vary popplier around here.
