That's exactly the point, the Fordson was useful for many tasks including baling. It had a good factoy category II 3 point hitch--not some cobbled up junk. As for the live hydraulics-- same thing, good for operating a remote cylinder on other implements. The manual steering wasn't ideal at slow speeds in a sandy field when baling--a tractor with power steering was better. The Fordson wasn't a rowcrop, so the Farmall M would have been the tractor of choice in a cornfield. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the Farmall M and it had it's place in the farmyard too. Sometimes you just have to tell it like it is.
Montanakd1992: After all that chatter we haven't answered your question about not being able to use a John Deere 14t with a Fordson. I am not sure but there might be some truth in that. I sort of remember the Fordson drawbar looking pretty long. It might have been a long distance from the end of the drawbar to the tractor PTO. Maybe there was a problem getting the shaft hooked up. Maybe someone else has some thoughts on what the problem may have been.
