I know you mentioned a broken valve. Was the H running before you removed the head? On the carburetor mixture screws, did you note how many turns that both needles were set before you rebuilt it? For initial settings, try 1 1/2 turns on the idle mixture and 2 turns on the high speed screw. Sorry I cannot help on the magneto. When you said you were getting spark, were you getting spark at the spark plugs? I'm trying to throw out some troubleshoot questions.
