Just to follow up, the starters are in fact exactly the same, including the position of the battery post.
Now my dad can move it if he needs to but can leave it in the shed if the river doesn't get up. Since I live two hours away, I can't get there at a moments notice to help pull stuff around.
I also wanted to double check that the starter on the M was the problem so putting a known good one on it solves that problem.
Plus,it would have to sit outside in the neighbors lawn until the storm passes if we moved it now.
