after you drop the pump out of the tractor, you need to separate the pump from the housing.there are a ring of bolts holding the pump to the housing. you will need a new gasket for that and the drive coupling seal. when you separate the halves, there is a linkage that slides together to connect the lift all control to the pump, kind of a fork looking deal. if you look down inside the pump you will see a set of gears in there. that is where you slide the brass bar in there to lock the gears. i use a brass drift and hammer to tap the coupling loose. it spins counter-clockwise to loosen, then unscrew it out. replace seal, grease the seal a little, then put the new gasket on and slide the pump back on the resevoir housing, be sure to get the linkage to re-engage. while its apart, clean all the goo out of the resevoir and look see if the dipstick is laying in there too!!!
