I am in the same boat. Make sure you get the correct brushes. I made the mistake of getting a starter "rebuild kit" from an ebay seller, and the brushes were not correct.
My recommendation is that you go to a local starter/alternator repair shop and get the correct brushes/springs/bushings. Also while you are there, have the shop turn down the commutator on your armature on their lathe.
The local shop is going to be your best source of information. They will be able to tell you if your coils/shoes are grounded (bad), condition of the terminal stud and condition of your armature.
I went through all of the above learning the hard way...
