The octane thing is right. One can usually figure that you need about 85 octane to run with a compression ratio of 8.5-1. So at the 6 or 7 to 1 that these Farmalls run, you could run it on 87 without any problem.

A technical issue on octane. The higher the octane rating the SLOWER the burn. Most people think higher octane means a faster burn. Totally incorrect.

Most all Farmalls were setup to run on distillate or diesel fuel. The octane rating of diesel is like nothing at all. Try to burn some vs. gasoline and you will see.
