The serial number plate should be located on the tool box that mounts on the clutch housing(under the gas tank). There is also a serial number on the engine on the left side. There is a flat spot just below the head to the rear. On my F-20 the serial numbers match but I don't think that is necessarily always the case. I have the serial numbers by year. On the color, IHC changed from gray to red in 1935. 35 and below gray, 36 and above red.
