I rebuilt the govenor asembly for a Farmall "A" by rebushing the speed change lever shaft and replaced the thrust bearing and the govenor shaft spring with the correct part. The governoer weights and pins were fine and needed no attention. The carburator throttle works fine. I readjusted everything as per the service manual. My problem is that when I try to increase the speed the speed control lever needs to pushed past the end of travel and the there is only a slightly higer increase in RPM. It sounds as if the govenor spring is not the right tension. How Can I test this if at all? Is it possible to get a different tension spring? I need suggestions. Thanks,
