If it has a TA, it may be out of adjustment. Try pulling the TA lever back and try to shift. Otherwise it is probably stuck in two gears. Not familiar with a 504, but you might be able to get to the shift rails by removing the shifter. You may be able to pry one loose. If that works, the shifter prongs need attention, requiring the top cover to be removed. It probably is not the fluid or the clutch.
