I agree. If the Carter carb can be made functional again with a good cleaning and a rebuild kit, then by all means that is what should be done, but I would caution anyone that has a Carter to remove it from the tractor and open it up before you buy the kit. If the float is trashed, and cannot be repaired by soldering, then you may as well bite the bullet right now and find a Zenith or Marvel-Schebler. Both the Zenith and MS carbs are readily available brand new, and the price is not all that bad compared to buying a used Zenith that needs lots of work before it can be installed.
