If you want a temporary quick fix on a low budget. I would pull the head and pan and put in a new set of rings. If you know anyone with micrometers have them see if it is within spec or not. Most people would not recomend this type of repair but sometimes it is necessary and there are many tractors out there that still run that the old timers did this to. I say give it a shot, in your case it can't hurt since I just did a rebuild of my cub and it cost over a $1,000 with very low machining costs, friend's shop and all. I have another cub that I will be doing this to this fall.....
