FAAV works for me on the seat bracket, FAAVM on the engine. I would look for casting codes that verify the date. Someone more into originality than I am can tell you but I believe an "R" would be the right code for 1948. Just went thru all this with mine. I have a "1949" SAV in the shop on deck for some work. Lots of swapping around of stuff on the offset Farmalls so I don't get too bugged by an odd part here and there. They worked hard and stuff broke...ya know?
