This is on a 350 Utility (and I know you're familiar with Utes!).
My measurements indicate diameters of 1.375 inches at the seal location (not the groove) and 1.370 at the splines. I could probably knock a little more off the splines just by cleaning some surface rust, so I think I'm OK there.
My current thought is that if I can get just the right size, I should be able to slip it over the splines and get an acceptable fit. Even if the splines cause some distortion in the sleeve (within reason), the full diameter of the final position should help straighten it back out -- enough to seal, at least, and better than the present groove. If it doesn't work I will have learned something and paid $20 for the lesson, so it's not the end of the world.
