I managed to get the springs mixed up for the control block/reservoir on my Super A. For someone who has had the unit apart, there are two springs, one for the safety valve and one for the regulator. One is longer and heavier. From the diagrams in the service manual and parts book it appears that the longer one is for the safety valve. The diagrams are are usually approximate, and it is difficult to be sure that this is correct. The longer spring portrudes above the block if used for the safety valve but will be compressed when the block is bolted down. It seems logical, to me anyway, that the safety valve would use a stronger spring, since it is designed to relieve pressure that exceeds 1200 lbs. Does anyone know if the smaller spring is for the regulator, larger for the safety valve? I won't know if it is correct until the block and fittings are installed, and don't want to have to disassemble again.
