Tom I have a 284 that I bought new in 1979.I had some carb problems a few years back.I checked on prices and decided to tinker with it a little more. After so long I tapped the side of the carb with a hammer and it started running normal.Lucky I guess.Maybe some trash.There is a guy that has a small shop and does carbs for several antique tractor clubs.He is really good He is in north Ala.If your friend would like I can check with him to see if he would work on a Japan carb.He has people mailing him carbs to work on.
