What is excessive to you? I wish my memory was better because somewhere I have this written down exactly but my SMTA uses 2-3 gallons per hour is what I remember. The higher number when under load...baling, mowing, etc. Fuel economy WAS an issue back then surprisingly as it comes up in the sales literature from time to time. Still, I think that rate of consumption was considered pretty good. Still less than $10 an hour for one of the most honest workers you'll ever hire!
