Somehow or other you have a mounting bracket installed wrong. I don't think the generator is supposed to be setting quite that high, and if you have the correct brackets, installed in the correct manner, that generator is in a FIXED position and cannot be swung either closer to or farther from the engine, and IF the generator is in the correct position, there IS ONLY ONE size of belt that will work.
