Well,it always has juice coming to the coil,but there is times that I dont see the light at the other side going to the distributor,but it also has one of those little rectifier or whatever they call it inline because its wired 12 volt with a 6 volt coil.I like the original coil,but I think I'll trash it and go 12 volt all the way.I just pulled her guts out for an hour straight and no problem,hot muffler and flame out the top.They sure run good in night air.I always thought our 4010 diesel liked night air better too when I was a kid plowing at night
