Since I do not know what pump you installed as a replacement I can not give you an answer to your question.
If you have power steering, and it sounds like you do, you need a pump that had a shaft with a female spline to drive the PS pump and a pump body that has the suction port through the back side to supply oil to the PS pump. The pump assembly you need will be made up of the main pump and a thinner pump bolted on the back side to provide oil to the steering.
