Char-Lynn Torque Generators (power steering unit) can be purchased new for $265. A Ford power steering pump (wrecking yard) will fit on the left side of the engine under the hood on a M or SM. Some mounting hardware will have to be fabricated but most farm shops have this basic capability. Most reputable wrecking yards will sell these common pump/reservor units for around $50 with a 30 day warranty. Mount the unit and purchase a longer generator belt for around $10. Purchase a new pressure line and a return line for $35. The hood will have to be lifted to add or check the fluid level but with the 4 spring retaining clips on the hood, this not a problem. The hood has to removed on a 1566 to change the air filter. For around $400, Farmall owners can have power steering with new components except for the power steering pump. BTDT. Good luck. Ray
