I have an 806 LP that has a tendency to get lazy when under light loads. Running at rated RPM it holds engine speed relatively well but still will slack off when the load lets up. I do custom haying with it and it is murder to rake with. I changed the governor with one off a 460, which helped the laziness to some degree but wouldn"t allow wide open throttle. I found another governor off another 806 with a 301 LP in it. This governor was better than the original but not nearly as good as I would like.
I also have a W-400 that doesn"t want to idle down. Once the throttle has been set past idle, you can forget low rpms for the rest of the day. Engine control is minimal to say the least. I checked to see that the control rod between the carb and the governor has the cog properly located.
I remember an ad in Red Power several years ago advertising an establishment that would rebuild governors. Now I can"t find the ad to save my self. Does anyone know of a place that would know what they were doing when rebuilding either or both of these governors?
