It now starts. As sudggested on this forum I followed the manual for venting the fuel system, there is a speicific order to bleed the system. That and a little shot of starting fluid and it was running. No more fuel leak (that was why it was in the shop in the first place) and the secondary leak that I found is taken care of also.
