I have a 1940 A that didn't have a starter. Although it takes away from the originality of the tractor, electric start is a wonderful thing. I had to purchase a bell housing from a newer model along with a flywheel w/ring gear and starter to complete my swap. It was a good time for a clutch and release bearing, also.
