I used the copper wool pads in my H (I got them at paint and body shop) and seems to work fine going on 6 years now. I thought about using steel wool as well, but when I vetted this with the guys here on the board a few nixed the idea stating that steel wool will burn and copper won’t. I suspect that if you get hot enough to set the steel wool in your breather on fire, you have bigger problems to worry about.
