Your tractor serial # was probably 222170. Your engine # is right at the point they made the engine and tractors another thousand apart. I don't have a close enough serial # recorded on each side of your serial # to pinpoint it exact. Anyway the engine was put in a tractor made in late march of 1950. As more diesel engines were put in M tractors the gas engine serial numbers kept getting lower than the tractor serial numbers. This even thousands apart for serial numbers only works for most of the later M gas tractors.
