I've operated a Cub with just about every mower you can imagine. The 59" Woods or the 60" IH/Danco are about worthless in the really tall, thick stuff. Save them for the barn lot.
And the Mott Hammerknife flail mower is really good, but only after the grass is really dry. Heavy dew will make a hammerknife look like you actually used a hammer and a knife...a dull one. But it'll mow your lawn so well it'll make the neighbors green with envy.
For the heavy stuff, nothing beats the Woods 42 with the free-swinging blades. If you think the grass is too heavy or thick to cut, raise the mower and increase the amount you overlap your cuts...and it'll cut anything up to a 1/2" sapling. Just keep your RPM's up...when my family did custom mowing with a Cub, Dad's advice was that there were only two positions that mattered on the throttle: idle and WFO [wide open].
Hope that answers your questions. If you can only have one mower, get the Woods 42...because you can do an acceptable job on the lawn with it if you keep the blades really sharp. If you have the luxury of two mowers, make the second one the Mott...because it's relatively easy to mount and dismount. If you insist on having the 5-footer, first choice would be the Woods. I just don't have many good things to say for the Danco after using one.
